Memos On Becoming

Short essays on discipline, money, and becoming her

About

Memos on Becoming is a collection of short essays on discipline, money, and becoming her.

It started with a Pinterest board. Hundreds of images of a life I wanted, the dinners and the flowers and the woman who clearly had her whole day handled by 8am. What none of the pins ever showed was the part that produced any of it. The alarm. The transfer to savings. The unglamorous decisions made in the dark before anyone was awake to see them.

So I started writing that part down.

Everything here works backward from the outcome to the habit. What she actually does on a Tuesday. Where the money goes before she can spend it. How discipline stops feeling like punishment and starts feeling like the way you treat someone you care about.

I’m not writing from the finish line. I’m somewhere in the middle of it, which I think makes the notes more useful than they’d be otherwise.

The essays are short on purpose. Each one gives you something to actually do, not just something to agree with.
